Love is in the air! As we prepare to show our significant other, family and friends just how much we care — don’t forget to show your home some extra attention this month, too! Share the love with these simple yet effective ways to show your home you care. And in return, you’ll love living in a cleaner and happier home!

Do a deep cleaning. Why wait until spring to deep clean your home? Take an afternoon to dust your fan blades, wipe off your blinds and window sills, clean hard-to-reach places behind furniture and appliances, and properly sweep, vacuum and mop your floors.

Patch up nail holes and remove scratches. Patch any pesky nail holes on your wall left over from holiday decor or paintings you have since removed or relocated. And while you’re at it, take some time to wipe away fingerprints or buff out any scratches on your walls.

Set up a HVAC check-up appointment to prepare for spring. A healthy HVAC makes for a happy home. To ensure your air conditioning is working properly, it is recommended to get your HVAC inspected by a professional before temperatures begin to rise. Check-up appointments fill up quickly during the spring, so it’s best to start planning early!

Declutter your closets and drawers. Spend some time decluttering your belongings as we enter a new season. Not sure where to start? Remove any unwanted or worn clothing from your closets and drawers, and consider donating or selling any pieces you no longer wear.

Freshen up your home with fresh flowers and houseplants. Your valentine isn’t the only one who deserves a bouquet of flowers! Beautify your nightstand, bookshelf or dining room table with a bouquet of colorful flowers or a new houseplant. This is an easy way to brighten up your home and bring the outdoors in.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

May your home be filled with warmth, joy and an extra dose of love this year.

Easy Hacks All Homeowners Should Know

Over the years, experienced homeowners have developed a lengthy list of inventive “hacks” to make life a little easier. From creative cleaning ideas to storage solutions, these simple hacks can make homeownership a little more streamlined.

Use a hair dryer to remove dust from blinds. Put your hair dryer on a cool setting and blow air on your blinds to remove dust and debris.

Freeze vinegar into ice cubes and run them through your garbage disposal. This serves two purposes — vinegar cleans your disposal and the hard ice cubes will sharpen the blades.

Clean a dirty microwave by heating a bowl of water and vinegar. Microwave a bowl of water and white vinegar (one cup of each) for five minutes to steam the interior. Then, carefully remove the bowl and wipe down the interior with a sponge.

Hide your thermostat behind a canvas. Simply hang a thick canvas to the wall by a hinge on the side so you can easily access your thermostat — but hide it from view!

Use a squeegee to remove pet hair from carpets and rugs. Simply run a squeegee along the surface of your carpet or rug. You’d be surprised by the amount of extra pet hair you can pick up!

Remove scuff marks on the floor by rubbing over them with a dry tennis ball. Get rid of pesky scuff marks from shoes and furniture by running a dry tennis ball over them.

Use a file organizer to store thin items in the kitchen. Store your thin cooking supplies, like cutting boards and cooking sheets, upright in a file organizer to keep them organized and easy to access.

Now you know!

I hope one of these simple hacks makes you an even happier homeowner.
